Ten Thousand Villages Craft Bazaar

International Craft Bazaar

Friday November 8, 2002    5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday November 9, 2002    9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Explore the true art of giving. For two days this November 8th and 9th, 2002; First Mennonite Church of Allentown brings exquisite handcrafts from around the world to Allentown with a sale of gifts for the holiday season. Ranging from folk art to holiday heirlooms, discover beautiful treasures for those you love. Not only does this sale provide an international market place of fairly traded handcrafts for area shoppers; sales directly benefit artisans in more than 30 countries.

Included in this sale are pottery; jewelry; toys; musical instruments and hand loomed textiles.

Proceeds from this sale go toward giving artisans the ability to better provide for their families; by giving them a fair wage for their creations.

The handcrafts are marketed by Ten Thousand Villages. For 53 years this non-profit organization has provided vital, fair income to Third World people by providing a market for their handcrafts and by telling their stories in North America. Ten Thousand Villages is a program of the Mennonite Central Committee.

In conjunction with the sale, a tea room will be open to featuring specialty tea and homemade baked goods. The proceeds from the tea room sales will be given to Turning Point, a local shelter for abused and battered women and their children.
